Learning Outcomes

Ophthalmic Specialist Training requires the achievement of a set of Core Learning Outcomes but also includes a variety of options known as Trainee Selected Components (TSCs).

CORE OUTCOMES:

In order to qualify for the award of CCT (Ophthalmology), all the Core Learning Outcomes must be achieved by the trainee. These are divided into 3 Themes of Ophthalmological Practice, within which there are 13 separate Domains. These map very clearly to the GMC Document "Good Medical Practice".

2 (PI) Patient investigation

3 (PM) Patient management

4 (PS) Practical skills

5 (SS) Surgical and laser skills

7 (C) Communication

Theme 2 - "How the ophthalmologist approaches their practice"

TRAINEE SELECTED COMPONENTS (TSC)
