  • Abide by the standards required by the Data Protection Act.
  • Ensure data held on your electronic devices or memory devices and in your portfolio and logbook are compliant with the act.
  • Look after carefully and dispose appropriately of any temporary patient identifiable data.
  • Know how you can safely use email for patient data.
  • Consider whether there are any situations in which confidentiality should be breached.
  • Know when you must obtain your patient’s permission to store communicate with others about her/him.
