  • Familiarity with the various routes and agents used in ophthalmic local anaesthesia, their mode of action, side effects, dosage and when monitoring may be required for various types of anaesthesia.
  • Identify pros and cons of each type of aneasthetic for the particular circumstance.
  • Look for opportunities to observe and then practise local anaesthesia, under supervision until safely competent.
  • Keep your Basic Life Support skills up to date.
