CPD approval of events

Events approved for CPD purposes should serve to maintain or enhance the knowledge, skills, personal and professional performance of all ophthalmologists’ doctors who take part in them. They should meet an educational need and provide an effective learning experience.

Fees are charged for CPD approval of meetings run by commercial (for-profit) organisations. Please contact cpd@rcophth.ac.uk for information.

If you wish to apply for CPD points for a meeting/course please read the Guidance for CPD Approval and complete the CPD Application Form for approval. A programme for the CPD event must be submitted with the approval form to cpd@rcophth.ac.uk.

Please note that the College requires 8 weeks’ notice before the meeting is due to take place.

The fees charged for the CPD approval of meetings run by commercial (for profit) organisations will be increasing to £300 plus VAT from 1 January 2020.  The fee increase will apply to all events that are dated to run from 1 January 2020 onwards; a fee of £350 plus VAT will be charged for all applications made less than two weeks before the event is due to run.

If the new fee structure applies to an approved event, the event will be able to be run multiple times over a 12-month period without further applications providing that the content, speakers and hours of educational content remain the same as stipulated in the original application.
