To assess a patient clinically, in OPD and elsewhere, in particular to:

Learning Outcome	Know the relevant investigations for the assessment of the anterior segment and corneal shape, structure and thickness. Be aware of new, specialised techniques, as they develop. Know how and when (urgent vs routine) to request them. Explain the benefits, risks and potential discomfort to the patient/carer. Be able to interpret, explain and act upon the results. Know the limitations and cost implication of each investigation.

Related Learning Outcomes
Overview	Use, with accuracy, the equipment available to you, for example, automated keratometry, UBM and anterior segment OCT. Perform and interpret K readings with modern Biometers (eg IOL Master) and be aware of the indications for the use of a hand-held keratometer. Understand the principle of the manual keratometers. (Javal-Shiotz and Von Helmholtz.)
