Vision standards for driving updated April 2013

As part of the suite of Ophthalmic Services Guidance Chapters, this document attempts to address some issues about driving which frequently concern ophthalmologists in their day-to-day work. Rather than reiterating information from the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) which is easily available, either through links in the document or by a simple internet search, the aim is to provide a perspective on the regulations, to highlight some recent changes, and to consider the duties of a responsible ophthalmologist, and a responsible driver.
