RCOphth recruiting for Editor in Chief of Eye Journal

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists is recruiting for the important post of Editor in Chief for our journal Eye. As the figurehead of the journal, he/she is responsible for driving the strategic direction and promotion of the journal in collaboration with the RCOphth’s Scientific Committee, the Editorial Board and publisher Springer Nature.
We are looking for a consultant ophthalmologist with extensive experience in medicine, clinical and basic science research as well as editorial experience in a comparable international scientific journal as a reviewer or editor. The College relies on the Editor in Chief to ensure that the content of the journal is of high quality, in line with the RCOphth’s charter and relevant policies, whilst managing the editorial review process to be both timely and fair.
Eye has a global distribution and supports medical professionals in the delivery of excellent ophthalmic services and healthcare. Its core aim is to advance the science and practice of ophthalmology, with the latest clinical and scientific based research and studies.
This is an unpaid position, however the Editor in Chief is entitled to expenses to cover attendance at Editorial Board meetings as well as an annual travel allowance to fund attendance at meetings to promote the journal.
The Royal College of Ophthalmologists is the only professional body for eye doctors, who are medically qualified and have undergone or are undergoing specialist training in the prevention, treatment and management of eye disease, including surgery in the UK. RCOphth received its Royal Charter in 1988 and has over 3,500 members in the UK and overseas.
