LOCSU recruiting for Director of Ophthalmology

The Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU) is seeking a forward-thinking Ophthalmology leader to join their organisation.

Serving as a strategic advisor to the LOCSU Board and operational team, you will be responsible for providing ophthalmology expertise to support the development of new care models to help address the demand and capacity issues facing NHS eye services.

Within this role, you will get the opportunity to influence the advancement of high quality integrated out of hospital care across England, delivered through high street optical practices working with acute trusts and other ophthalmology providers under a robust governance framework.

The position is part-time with a commitment to a number of sessions per annum that will be arranged by mutual agreement.  You will be working closely with the senior management team and key stakeholders to support the delivery of LOCSU’s strategic plan.

Applicants must have a minimum qualification of MRCOphth, be able to demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills, and be supportive of the development of an increased role for non-medical professionals in the delivery of NHS eye services, particularly optometrists and opticians in primary care.
