Paediatric Ocular Inflammation Group (POIG)

29 November 2017

POIG is being formed in order to support the development of the evidence base necessary to inform management strategies, service commissioning and service delivery for children with ocular inflammatory disorders.

The rarity of the individual disorders, which together constitute a significant cause of morbidity, is an obstacle to impactful biomedical research. This is particularly true for the disorders which impact on children. To overcome this challenge, various clinicians and researchers across the paediatric ophthalmology, uveitis, external and orbital disease ophthalmic sub-specialties, along with rheumatologists and paediatricians, are coming together to form a collaborative network.

The POIG would be grateful if members would tell the group whether you do, or do not manage children with ocular inflammation (including but not limited to ocular surface disorders, orbital inflammation, optic neuritis as well as uveitis) and to provide a few details using this link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/POIG. The questionnaire should take no more than seven minutes. The survey closes 28 February 2018.

Your answers will be used to understand how best to engage your expertise. Thank you for your time, and if you have any queries please contact, Lola Solebo, a.solebo@ucl.ac.uk

We’d also like to invite members to join POIG, membership is not expected to be onerous and members can choose a level of involvement to suit their needs, as well as receiving a quarterly email with updates on group progress and future plans. Members will also be invited to become involved in relevant ongoing projects.
