National Ophthalmology Database (NOD) Audit Update

30 August 2016

Data Submission

The cataract audit data submission will take place in September 2016 for data contributed from 01 September 2015 to 31 August 2016. Now will be a good time for you and your colleagues to check your data to ensure that any outstanding data is inputted on your Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and databases.

For trusts using the Medisoft EMR system to contribute data into the audit, your data will be extracted by Medisoft the week commencing 26 September 2016 and then transferred to the NOD statistician for analysis.

If we are yet to receive the completed data extraction permissions form for your trust, Medisoft will be unable to extract your trust’s data until we have the appropriate permission in place. All outstanding permissions forms should please be completed and returned via email to noa.project@rcophth.ac.uk before the data extraction occurs.

For trusts with other EMR systems/ databases, you will have to upload your data in csv format on the NOD audit website, www.nodaudit.org.uk and further information on how to upload your trust’s data will be sent to you in due course.

The audit report is expected to be published in March 2017 and the second round of the prospective audit data collection will commence on 01 September 2016 to 31 August 2017.

Posterior Capsule Rupture (PCR) and Visual Loss Statistical Model

The PCR and Visual loss statistical model explanation documents are now available in the analysis section of the NOD website. Please note that you need to be a registered user of the NOD website before you can access these documents.

If you have any questions about the audit, please contact noa.project@rcophth.ac.uk.
