Update from Secretary of State for Health and Social Care on EU Exit preparations
4 April 2019
The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, has written to health and social care staff in the NHS providing an update on EU Exit preparations. The letter includes information on:
• the rights of EU citizens to remain in the UK after it leaves the EU
• the continued recognition of EU professional qualifications in the UK
• medicines and prescribing in the event of a no-deal EU Exit
The full letter is available to read and download on GOV.UK
Importantly Matt Hancock provided strong assurances in his letter that the NHS’s EU workforce ‘will be able to continue work here, whatever the Brexit outcome‘.
As stated previously, the RCOphth would like to take this opportunity to once again thank our members with primary degrees from Europe for their ongoing commitment to the NHS and welcome any legislation which will allow them to easily remain working in the UK post Brexit.
