ICC welcomes the UK’s largest ophthalmic conference and exhibition

22 March 2016

The ICC Birmingham promotes our Annual Congress 2016 at their venue.  Registration is now open and you can book your place at www.rcophthcongress.com

In May 2016, the International Convention Centre (ICC) will be welcoming over 1,800 delegates from the UK and overseas to Birmingham for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Annual Congress.

The event takes place across 8 of the ICC’s purpose-built conference halls including the recently refurbished hall 3.  The Annual Congress is seen as a highlight in the ophthalmic calendar for clinicians and allied health professionals at all stages of their career; and the four days are packed with seminars, research highlights and lectures by highly-regarded UK and international speakers.

Mr Mike Burdon, Scientific Chair from The Royal College of Ophthalmologists said, “We are delighted to be returning to the ICC for this year’s Annual Congress, a venue our delegates are quite familiar with. This year, we continue to attract high quality speakers and to offer an extensive educational and scientific programme. It is also a great chance to network with friends and colleagues from the UK and overseas.”

Mr Burdon added, “The ICC’s location is very important to us as its central location with train and air connectivity and good hotels on its doorstep makes attendance very easy for our delegates. In previous years we have been impressed by the experience and enthusiasm of the ICC team and we look forward to working with them to make this another successful event for us.”

Catherine Newhall-Caiger, Business Development Director for the ICC said: “We are delighted to welcome The Royal College of Ophthalmologists to the ICC for their 12th Annual Congress at the ICC. Our event team will be working in partnership with the organisers to ensure their event is a great experience for their delegates, exhibitors and speakers.”

“Our central location means there are over 6,500 hotel bedrooms and over 200 restaurants, bars and visitor attractions all within easy walking distance of the ICC, so not only is our venue an attractive proposition for conference organisers, it’s an ideal choice for delegates too as everything is on the doorstep and it all contributes to giving them the best possible experience.”

This will be the 12th time the ICC has hosted the event having previously welcomed The Royal College of Ophthalmologists Congress since 1993.
