Learning Outcome	Be able to apply appropriate laser for the management of raised intraocular pressure using a variety of techniques Understand the indications, risks and limitations of laser treatment. Know how to manage the complications of laser treatment.
Assessment	DOPS Portfolio Part 2 FRCOphth
Assessor	Note: may require several DOPS for different laser therapies
Target Year of Achievement	2 assessments in Year 3 and 6 assessments during Year 4 - 7

Overview	Understand what sorts of laser procedures are possible for raised IOP and what their indications are. Be aware how the laser works and what safety precautions are required. Be aware whether the Trust requires a formal laser initiation procedure. Consider the balance of risks and benefits, and how these should be explained to the patient. Be aware whether there are any underlying conditions which would alter the risk/benefit ratio. Have a good knowledge of what complications could ensue, what follow-up is necessary, and what warnings should the patient be given. Know what pre and post-operative treatment is indicated for the patient.
