Learning Outcome	Perform a basic ultrasound examination of the eye and orbit and employ a systematic method. Use ultrasonography techniques to locate the temporal artery prior to its biopsy. Understand the basic principles and limitations of its use.

Overview	Be aware of what extra information you can gain from performing the ultrasound as opposed to looking at a still print-out. Appreciate how the common ocular tumours differ on ophthalmic ultrasound. Appreciate how the common membranous detachments differ on ophthalmic ultrasound. Know the difference between an A-scan and a B-scan and where an A scan can be useful.
