TITLE	PERIOCULAR AND INTRAOCULAR DRUG DELIVERY
Code	PS3
Learning Outcome	Check, constitute and administer drugs directly into ocular and periocular tissues, specifically including sub-conjunctival, sub-tenons, intraorbital, intracameral and intravitreal routes. Understand the indications, contraindications and risks associated with each route.
Assessment	DOPS Portfolio Part 2 FRCOphth
Assessor	Note: may require several DOPS for different local anaesthesia techniques

Overview	Study the relevant clinical anatomy prior to the administration of periocular drugs. Understand the methods of action and pharmacokinetics of the drugs used. Recognise the side effects of these drugs and be able to anticipate these effects in the specific context of periocular and intraocular administration. Be able to constitute and administer intravitreal antibiotics, which is often performed in an emergency situation out of hours. Check that the drug been stored properly and is it within its expiry date.
