Assessor	Note: may require several DOPS for different local anaesthesia techniques

Overview	Familiarity with the various routes and agents used in ophthalmic local anaesthesia, their mode of action, side effects, dosage and when monitoring may be required for various types of anaesthesia. Identify pros and cons of each type of aneasthetic for the particular circumstance. Look for opportunities to observe and then practise local anaesthesia, under supervision until safely competent. Keep your Basic Life Support skills up to date.
