Overview	Consider the importance of clear communication and therefore clear dictation in achieving the best outcomes for your patient. Ensure you check all dictated communication for accuracy and sense before it is sent. Consider the value of copying communication to the patient. Consider the value of copying communication to other healthcare professionals, for example the referring optometrist. Make sure you have the patient’s permission before doing so. Seek feedback from a colleague after they have scrutinised one of your patient letters.
