Overview	Understand how systemic conditions may be linked to ophthalmic problems, and when the management of a systemic condition may be aided by the assistance of another professional. Know the ophthalmic conditions that warrant an urgent onward referral to other healthcare professionals, and be aware of the local policies and systems for making such referrals. Obtain feedback on your referrals; focus on appropriateness, clarity and completeness of information.
